Jacek Markusiewicz (mrkswcz) is an architect and artist hailing from Poland. While his art is anchored in architectural concepts, it expands to encompass elements of nature, design and to build atmospheric scenes. He is considered one of the most technically accomplished generative artists, creating high-resolution detailed artworks that can often be mistaken for drawings or photographs and has exhibited at many of the major generative art exhibitions.
COLLECTION HIGHLIGHTS
"Barbarians" is an astonishing work, based on the conflict between the natural and the industrial. Each piece in the series depicts a balance between a rural settlement and the brutalist constructions in uneasy equilibrium. The collector-curated aspect allowed collectors to explore how far they wanted to push the boundaries and created some spectacular results.
"Unbuilt" is somewhat more sedate in comparison to Barbarians, but intriguing nonetheless. An exploration of buildings never made, this generative algorithm creates beautiful schematics of gothic churches in exquisite architectural detail.

Finally, "Hollow" remains not only one of mrkswcz's best works, but one of the best works across all of generative art. The piece is based on the work of Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida who proposed a project to create an immense void inside Tindaya, the Sacred Mountain of Fuerteventura's indigenous inhabitants. The series consists of 256 different "hollows" where pixels turn into stone and light. The animation is a masterstroke, almost imperceptible motion of the visitors while birds circle in the shafts of light above. "Hollow" is a true triumph of generative art.
